Sensis and Recycling

Got old directories? Simply recycle them through your normal paper recycling service!

Through the Sensis Directory Recycling Program, directories can be recycled in most areas of Australia through established council kerbside and commercial paper recycling collections. For more information on recycling in your areas, visit Planet Ark's Recycling Near You website.

Businesses - if your business has a Visy paper and cardboard recycling service you can simply include your old directories in this service. If you don't have a recycling service, call Visy Recycling on 1300 368 479 or visit the Visy Recycling website.

Facts and Figures
In 2007, 75% of all old directories were recycled by Australian households and businesses. A further 21% were reused as a second directory, to prop up computer monitors, to wrap breakables and a range of other uses. The following table details the recycling and reuse rates in 2007:

Old directories are collected with other recyclables, sorted, and recycled by Visy Recycling into recycled cardboard packaging products.

The Sensis and Recycling - more than just Directories...
In addition to providing a post-consumer recycling program, Sensis is also committed to waste management and recycling behind the scenes.

All the paper waste generated at our printers and distribution sites is recycled into cardboard packaging, kitty litter and housing insulation.

Through the Sensis GreenOffice Program, Sensis staff are also actively involved in reducing resource use and recycling.
